The boring legal bit ...

Below you’ll find the technical details, disclosures, and disclaimers I’m required to provide as a regulated solicitor. I’ll be the first to admit that legal fine print isn't the most exciting read, but it is incredibly important. These details are here to ensure that our professional relationship is built on a foundation of total transparency and compliance from the very first click. It’s all part of making sure we get things right from the off, so you can focus on your case with peace of mind.

Disclaimer

The content provided on this website is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute formal legal advice. While I aim to share helpful insights from my 20 years of experience, the law—especially employment law—is incredibly fact-sensitive.

Every person’s situation is unique, and even a small factual difference can completely change how the law applies to your case. Because of this, the information on this site should not be used as a substitute for professional counsel. To ensure your interests are protected, you should always seek tailored legal advice that is specific to your individual circumstances before taking (or refraining from) any legal action.

Please note: Accessing this website or contacting me via the provided forms does not, on its own, create a solicitor-client relationship.

Regulatory Status & disclosures

Loureen Palmer is a solicitor of England and Wales, authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA Number: 456941).

I practise as a self-employed freelance solicitor in my own name. I do not practise as a recognised body (law firm) or through a service company. This model allows me to provide you with high-level expertise at a more accessible cost by offering modular, unbundled legal services directly to you. Because I operate as a freelance solicitor, there are two specific points regarding your protection that I want to share with you:

  • Professional Indemnity Insurance: I maintain full, appropriate, and adequate professional indemnity insurance for the services I provide. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong with my work, you are protected by this insurance policy, which meets the SRA’s requirements for my practice. Please note that as a freelance solicitor, my insurance is not required to meet the SRA’s "Minimum Terms and Conditions" (MTC) required for traditional law firms; however, I have ensured my cover is robust and tailored to my specific area of expertise.

  • The SRA Compensation Fund: As a freelance solicitor, my clients do not have access to the SRA Compensation Fund. This is a discretionary fund used generally in cases of solicitor dishonesty or a failure to account for money.

Why this matters (and why I’m confident): The Compensation Fund is primarily a safety net for instances of fraud or the mishandling of client money. Since I do not hold "client money" (I only bill for my work after it is completed or as agreed) and operate with total transparency, the risks this fund covers are significantly mitigated in my practice.

In my nearly 20 years of legal practice (qualified 2010), I have never had a client feel the need to bring a professional negligence claim against me, let alone require a claim against a compensation fund. If anything, my experience has made me more cautious and precise. My priority is—and has always been—getting your legal drafting and advice right the first time.

Your data

When you instruct me, I collect and process your personal information specifically to provide you with tailored legal advice and drafting services. To comply with professional standards and to protect both parties in the unlikely event of a future dispute or professional negligence claim, I will securely retain your file and personal data for a period of 6 years following the conclusion of our professional relationship. This data is stored using secure, encrypted systems and is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Once the 6-year retention period has expired, your information will be permanently and securely destroyed.

Complaints

I am committed to providing high-quality legal advice and drafting. However, if you are unhappy about any aspect of the service you have received, please contact me directly at kentemploymentlawsolicitor@gmail.com so that I can do my best to resolve the issue.

If I am unable to resolve your complaint, you may have the right to complain to the Legal Ombudsman. Normally, you will need to bring a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman within six months of receiving a final written response from me about your complaint, and within one year of the act or omission about which you are complaining (or within one year of you becoming aware of it).
